Keney Park Nature Trail

We are excited to announce the opening of the New Keney Park Nature Trail with 40 Outdoor Education stations, and 10 Art 4 Hope stations on October 29 at 10:30 AM. Please check back to this page as the date approaches. Each station will be listed here so you can access the information while enjoying the trail. See you out on the trail soon!
A Few Quick Facts:
- The Nature Trail was originally opened in the 1970’s.
- In 2022 Community First School students began using small portions of the trail that were still passable.
- In 2023 Students and staff with support from the Friends of Keney Park, the CT Department of Environment and Energy Protection, and the Keney Park Sustainability Project began clearing sections of the trail that had been overgrown and impassable.
- In 2024 others took notice and joined the effort including the Rise Up Group, Hartford Healthcare, Cummins, Art 4 Hope, and Linked 4 Life.
- The trail originally included 31 education stations identifying plant and wildlife points of interest.
- An additional 9 stations are now being added.
- The Trail will now be 1.9 miles long, and will begin and end at the Keney Park Pond House.
