The Trail Begins and Ends at the Keney Park Pond House

The Keney Park Nature Trail is 1.5 miles long with 40 Education Nature Stations, and 10 Art Mindfulness Stations.

A Few Quick Facts:
- The Nature Trail was originally opened in the 1970’s.
- In 2022 Community First School students began using small portions of the trail still passable.
- In 2023 Students and staff with support from the Friends of Keney Park, the CT Department of Environment and Energy Protection, and the Keney Park Sustainability Project began clearing sections of the trail that had been overgrown and impassable.
- In 2024 others took notice and joined the effort to restore the trail including the Rise Up Group, Hartford Healthcare, Cummins, Art 4 Hope, and Linked 4 Life.
- The trail originally included 31 educational Nature Stations identifying plant and wildlife points of interest.
- An additional 9 Nature Stations and 10 Art Mindfulness stations were added in the fall 2024, extending the trail, which is now 1.5 miles long, and begins and ends at the Keney Park Pond House.
